Online laboratories and virtual experimentation in higher education from a sociotechnical-pedagogical design perspective

چکیده

This special issue presents recent work of virtual-, remote- or web-based laboratories in higher education. The shows a large variety online with different technical and educational approaches from around the world, all fields engineering All included articles describe design their respective specific context use empirical data to showcase effectiveness efficiency laboratory value context. For example, authors answer questions like “Is effective, does support learners reach intended learning goals laboratory?” case studies do not rely on subjective learner views but quantitative qualitative research methods such as surveys, interviews, guided observations assess, evaluate, improve design. span domain medical dental education well otherwise less discussed field aviation. this Special Issue demonstrate considerable diversity both approaches, encompassing technologies implemented pedagogical range employed. Given varying contexts, it is crucial employ distinct assessment frameworks evaluate these effectively. In line perspective, editorial aims only summarize inclusions also contribute discourse virtual labs by introducing examining highly adaptable heuristic-based methodology for evaluating settings laboratories.
